Transparency all the way. Cost types explained
Admin costs
£120 consultancy fee charged prior to 1st meeting. Total ADMIN charge shown on final invoice minus £120 consultancy fee*
Admin costs cover all the bits and pieces that don't come under the creative banner. Everyone charges for these, some may just lose it within the costs of the whole project.

I prefer to show the costs in clear stages so you can see where your investment is going and I try to keep these costs to a minimum by asking you for a clear idea of your requirements right from the start.

Admin costs include any time spent in meetings, correspondence and setting up paperwork.
Proposal Development/Concept
A quote/agreement will be supplied after I receive all info and requirements of your project. This will need to be signed and returned with 50% of the quote
These costs are made up of the backbone of the project.

Offering a general creative solution package, this could involve concept models, audio ideas, scene set ups, lo res renders...all things that go towards approval for the next stage.

If we can get it right before moving onto the nice polished end product then that will save a lot of time and more importantly, your investment.
Final Design/Stage Completion Documents Prep
As long as no changes have been made to the agreement along the way then the final invoice will be issued showing how the costs were broken down, deductions will be shown such as the 50% deposit already paid along with the £120 consultancy fee. The full balance will need to be cleared before handover of work.
If we've got the development section right and agreed beyond any doubt then this part should be a breeze.

If for any reason there may be a need for a tweak at this stage, then any cost implication will be discussed with you before potentially making the changes. Obviously, if it's a physical product that had been made to the agreed design then it might be a bit more costly than changing the colour of the carpet on a CGI render but there is always a solution. Alternatively, we just make sure you are 100% happy at the initial design stage.
Rest assured, if any costs are developed because of an error on my part, it will always be shown and deducted from the invoice.
Changes to the agreed proposal may or may not incur cost implications. These will always be discussed should the need arise.
There will be no surprise costs after the quote is agreed and unchanged.
*Due to some potential clients using my service as a pricing exercise, I do ask for an initial £120 consultancy fee before I attend a meeting. This fee is deducted from the final invoice should you decide to work with me. If however you decide otherwise, then hopefully you'll have taken something from our discussion to get your creative problem solved with someone that suits you more.
Questions you may have that I always consider when choosing a service provider
"Why should I contact you?"

That would be up to you. I've tried to balance the site to not only show what I can offer but to show to some extent who I am.
The main reason I designed and built the site myself was to continue this ideal. If the way I've prepared the site creates a positive reaction in you then that's a great foundation for a possible creative relationship.
"If I contract GilesPreeneDesign and it's not heading in the direction I had in mind, what can I do?"

After you've given me the brief, I'll provide an interim quote which includes what I intend to offer based on that brief which you can adjust before signing. Depending on the nature of the project, adjustments may need to be made as work progresses, especially if it's a product development project. With these type of projects I'll keep you up to date on any decisions and additions the project may require that could affect the quote or the timescale.

I don't like surprises when it comes to services so why should I expect you to? I'll always be clear with you and keep you in the loop to ensure you're happy with how things are moving along.

If, however, you decide that along the way you do not want to proceed any further then I'll end the contract and only invoice you for costs of the project up to that point with no penalties as long as the invoice is cleared immediately.

I always ask for a non refundable 50% of the invoice so if the cost so far is less than this then there will be nothing else for you to pay. Unfortunately, I can't refund you any of the difference. This is due to the fact that I would have fitted you into my schedule for the envisaged period of the project and I wouldn't have taken any other clients for that allocation. Please be aware of this before considering my services.
"What does GilesPreeneDesign need from me to get things started?"

I need a full description of your goal and what the project is to achieve. I need all information for any products should they need to be modelled, floorplans for building design, purpose for furniture design...the list is potentially very long.

To make things simpler, if you let me know the basic idea of your project then I'll cover options and requirements at the consultancy stage. I'll also get an idea of who you are which can help in making the final product personal to you and your tastes.
